Patent for movement stabilization employing sensors, novel actors and control system in Smart Textiles
Description
In order to safety ensure the stability of a moving person , we have composed the following requirements for a solution: The system needs to be wearable, light, easily manageable when (un-)dressing, hygienic, unassuming, easily servicable, high quality, reliable, and personalised. The goal is not to create a well intended product that will remain in the closet after purchase, but a daily companion that will actually be used continuously with pleasure and ease. Quality of life and everyday freedoms will return with usage. The often reported downward spiral of lack of movement and further loss of bone density, movability and muscle mass will be broken. The pleasure of moving in sports, games, and specialised training sessions will improve both physical health and confidence in one's own proprioception. All of these parameters have been met in this project. We do not rely on cloud-based systems, but instead on the real-time registration and evaluation of the wearers movements. Specialized sensors that monitor attributes like the position etc., on which we calculate momentum of defined reference points on the head, torso, and extremities already exist on the market. Thanks of our novel actors that function as a muscle/fascia equivalent, certain parts of the body will stiffen momentarily to ensure restabilisation. This is the technological solution to prevent falls when they are likely about to happen imminently.
