3D-KNITTED ACOUSTIC TEXTILE
Description
THE NEED
Reduce reverberation and improve sound-field clarity in indoor spaces under fire, weight and design constraints, without relying on rigid panels.
THE TECHNOLOGY
We engineer stable 3D knitted morphologies with controlled ridges and cavities directly on linear double-bed machines (no post-forming), tuning thickness, porosity and areal density to increase the acoustically active surface. Geometry, aesthetics and materials are customizable (incl. printing and recycled fibres where compatible).
THE APPLICATION
A lightweight, modular acoustic textile for curtains, sails, suspended panels and linings; high mid-high absorption (α close to 1 from ~1 kHz, configuration-dependent), easy installation and a scalable path to industrialization. Italian patent n. 102023000012498.
