Description

A high-performance bio-based yarn with multiple advantages

Greenfil® textile fiber is unique, derived from natural resources, offering a multitude of advantages over other textile fibers. In this article, we will explore the natural origin of Greenfil®, its manufacturing process, its exceptional properties and its various applications.

The natural origin of the yarn

Greenfil® is a 100% bio-based synthetic fiber, based on polyamide 11, a polymer produced by Arkema also known as Polyamide 11 (PA11) Rilsan®. This polyamide is derived from castor oil, a natural and renewable resource. Castor oil is extracted from castor beans, a plant cultivated mainly in semi-arid areas. This oil is transformed into 11-amino undecanoic acid, the basic monomer of polyamide 11, which is then polymerized to form polyamide 11 chains. The resulting polymer can be spun to obtain textile fibers.

Exceptional properties of Greenfil®

Greenfil® is distinguished by several remarkable properties that make it a material of choice for various textile applications:

  • Strength and durability: Greenfil® is extremely resistant to abrasion, impact and tearing. It retains its mechanical properties even after numerous cycles of washing and use, making it a very durable material.
  • Lightweight: Greenfil® is lightweight, making it comfortable to wear and easy to handle.
  • Resistance to chemicals: Greenfil® is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including solvents, oils and greases. This property makes it ideal for workwear and protective equipment.
  • Thermal stability: Greenfil® retains its mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures, from -40°C to +130°C. This thermal stability makes it a suitable material for extreme environments.
  • Comfort and feel: Greenfil® has a soft and pleasant feel, similar to that of natural fibers such as cotton. It is also breathable, which contributes to the wearer’s comfort.

Advantages over other textile fibers:

Compared to other textile fibers, this fiber has several notable advantages:

  • Environmental sustainability: unlike synthetic fibers derived from petroleum, Greenfil® is derived from renewable resources, making it a more sustainable option.
  • Superior performance: Greenfil® outperforms many synthetic fibers in terms of strength, durability and thermal stability. It offers superior performance in extreme conditions.
  • Versatility: Greenfil® can be used in a wide range of textile applications, from sportswear to protective equipment and technical textiles.
Uses of Greenfil® in textiles:
  • Sportswear: its strength, light weight and comfort make it an ideal material for sportswear and outdoor equipment.
  • Protective equipment: thanks to its resistance to chemical products and its thermal stability, this textile fiber is used in the manufacture of protective equipment for the petroleum, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Technical textiles: Greenfil® is also used in the manufacture of technical textiles for specialized applications, such as membranes, filters and coatings.

Greenfil® is a bio-based textile fiber that offers a unique combination of durability, performance and comfort. Made from castor oil, it is a more sustainable alternative to synthetic petroleum-based fibers. Its exceptional properties make it a material of choice for a wide range of textile applications, from sportswear to protective equipment. It is ideal not only for improving the performance of its products, but also for contributing to a more sustainable future.

Becool®

The fiber for optimal thermal comfort

In the textile industry, innovation is at the heart of the quest for ever more high-performance and comfortable clothing. Becool® stands out for its incredible ability to manage and wick away sweat, thus offering unparalleled comfort. Let’s discover together the mechanisms of Becool® fiber and the advantages it brings to various textile applications.

How does Becool® fibre work?

Unlike traditional round-section textile fibres, Becool® has a four-pointed star shape. This unique structure gives Becool® exceptional moisture management and thermoregulation properties.

Increased Contact Surface

The star shape of the four-lobed fibres increases the contact surface with the skin and air, allowing for optimal sweat absorption and evaporation.

Thanks to its 4-channel section, the diffusion surface of BeCool fibre is larger than that of a round-section thread. Acting like a fan blade, it channels the warm, moist air emitted by the skin and helps to evacuate it towards the outer layer of the double-sided fabric.

Moisture Transport Channels

The branches of the four-lobed section create capillary channels that facilitate the rapid transport of moisture to the outside of the fabric, where it evaporates easily.

Renew Air Flow is an air circulation mechanism that circulates fresh, dry air from outside to the skin.

Improved Ventilation

The four-lobed fibre structure promotes better air circulation through the fabric, helping to keep the skin dry and regulate body temperature.

The Self Sweat Extractor is a mechanism that creates a vacuum between the fabric and the skin, thereby drawing heat and moisture outwards.

What are the benefits of Becool® fibre?
  • Optimal Sweat Management: the four-lobed fibres quickly absorb and wick away moisture, reducing the feeling of dampness and discomfort.
  • Thermal Comfort: by facilitating sweat evaporation and improving ventilation, Becool® contributes to optimal body temperature regulation, keeping the body cool in summer and warm in winter.
  • Quick Drying: thanks to their ability to effectively wick away moisture, quadrilobed fibre fabrics dry quickly, a major advantage for sportswear and outdoor activities.

What are the applications of Becool®?

  • Sportswear: ideal for athletes and sports enthusiasts, quadrilobed fibres offer optimal sweat management and essential thermal comfort
  • Technical Textiles: sed in workwear, protective equipment and medical textiles, these fibres ensure effective moisture management
  • Leisurewear: when incorporated into leisurewear, quadrilobed fibres offer increased comfort and better body temperature regulation

Becool® represents a major advance in sweat management and thermal comfort improvement. Its unique structure allows for effective moisture absorption and wicking, while promoting ventilation. Whether for sportswear, technical textiles or leisurewear, Becool® offers undeniable advantages in terms of comfort and performance. It is the ideal fibre to meet consumers’ growing needs for moisture management and well-being.
