Outlast® Temperature Regulation

Integrated into Fibers

Outlast® Temperature Regulation can be directly integrated into fibers such as polyacrylic, viscose, or polyester. These fibers are spun into yarns that can then be knitted (e.g., for socks or hats) or woven. In-fiber applications are particularly suitable for products worn directly on the skin or in close contact with the body.

In bedding applications, Outlast® fibers are also used as a filling material. Outlast® polyester filling fibers can be flexibly blended with other filling fibers and are ideal for bedding with synthetic fillings.

The result: exceptionally soft, cozy comfort combined with active and reliable climate control through Outlast® Temperature Regulation.

With fresh2SKIN®, Outlast offers an innovative and versatile finishing technology for almost all types of textiles. fresh2SKIN® creates a pleasantly perceptible cooling effect for the wearer, triggered by the use of natural menthol.

In combination with Outlast® Temperature Regulation and excellent hydrophilic properties, fresh2SKIN® provides long-lasting comfort—even in warm temperatures and during changing activity levels.

Application

fresh2SKIN® is applied using a conventional padding (foulard) process, making it easy and cost-efficient to integrate into existing production lines. No special equipment or additional manufacturing tools are required.

The finish is highly versatile and suitable for:

• cotton and cotton blends

• synthetic materials

• knitted and woven fabrics

Aerogel-based insulation redefined.
Aersulate® uses highly porous aerogel - a material with an extremely high air content - to deliver outstanding insulation performance with minimal material thickness. The insulating air is not freely moving between fibers but securely bound within the microstructure of the aerogel. As a result, the insulation performance remains almost constant even under pressure and in moist conditions.

The technology is available in a wide range of constructions - from textiles and laminates to nonwovens, needlefelts, as well as fibers and waddings - and can be precisely tailored to different applications. Flame-resistant variants are also available.

The advantage: maximum thermal performance with minimal bulk. Products can be designed significantly thinner, lighter, and more space-efficient without compromising performance.
For the user, this means reliable insulation, consistent performance under real-use conditions - and noticeably improved comfort with reduced material usage.

Outlast® Temperature Regulation enhances textile materials in a targeted and measurable way.
Performance fabrics featuring Outlast® Temperature Regulation work proactively and dynamically: they absorb excess body heat, store it, and release it back when needed. This balances the microclimate directly at the skin, reducing both overheating and chilling while significantly improving wearer comfort.

Different integration methods are available to apply Outlast® Temperature Regulation. The appropriate method depends on the specific end product, the desired effect, and the required performance level.

Coated Materials

Coated Outlast® materials offer an exceptionally high capacity to absorb and store heat—providing the highest capacity among all integration methods. They are ideally suited for applications with elevated comfort and performance requirements, such as bedding, footwear, and outerwear.

The coating can be applied to a variety of carrier materials. In bedding applications, coated nonwoven fabrics are commonly used. For jackets and apparel, coated linings or interliners are integrated between the outer fabric and the inner lining. This allows manufacturers full flexibility in selecting their preferred outer and inner materials while seamlessly integrating the benefits of Outlast® Temperature Regulation.
