About us
Fibres can be found almost everywhere and they are present in every phase of human life. Fibres are all around us – some visible, some not. But all the different fibres we produce here in Kelheim have one similarity – they offer comfort and protection. Our functionalized fibres are at the core of numerous hygiene products, such as femcare or incontinence products. These products offer the consumer absolute reliability and an extraordinary level of comfort. In textile applications our fibres transform everyday textiles into something special, boosting the wearer's wellbeing. The fact that our fibres are biobased and biodegradable is an integral part of every end product and supports a sustainable lifestyle.
Kelheim Fibres GmbH is the world’s leading manufacturer of viscose speciality fibres.
Innovative products, flexible technologies and an exceptional focus on sustainability form the foundation of the company’s success.
Our speciality fibres are used in most diverse applications from fashion, hygiene and medical products to nonwovens and speciality papers.
All our fibres are made from 100% wood pulp from PEFC or FSC™ (FSC™ C009583) certified sources. They are fully biodegradable and offer an environmentally sound alternative to petroleum-based materials in a broad range of different end products – while maintaining or even enhancing the functional performance of the product.
The production takes place exclusively in Germany and complies with the strict German environmental legislation. Our closed-loop philosophy and an energy-efficient way to operate our plants help to save valuable resources. Kelheim Fibres is the first viscose manufacturer worldwide with an EMAS-validated environmental management system.

VILOFT®
Fabrics made of VILOFT® contain up to 70 % of air
VILOFT® fibres are 100% natural and are made from renewable raw materials – they are also completely biodegradable.
In textiles, VILOFT® creates air chambers in the fabric thanks to its special fibre cross section, thus providing pleasantly light garments which feel noticeably soft and light as air on the skin. At the same time, these air chambers store body heat. VILOFT® fibres can thus be found particularly in thermal underwear, sportswear, socks or T-shirts. VILOFT® textiles contain up to 70 % air. Thus, they are lighter and airier and flow around your body without restricting it.

Bramante
Bramante – the hollow fibre
The special feature of our Bramante fibre is based on its characteristic segmented hollow cross-section. While other fibres store liquids between the fibres in fabric construction, Bramante absorbs the liquid inside the fibre. Bramante is therefore not only very absorbent, but it also excels in its retention capacity. Terry towels or sportswear with Bramante content absorb moisture particularly well. The high absorption capability makes Bramante for example ideally suited for environmental friendly and washable pads or menstruation underwear.

CELLIANT® Viscose
Nature-based Fibers. Infrared Wellness.
CELLIANT Viscose is the first in-fiber sustainable viscose infrared (IR) solution for brand partners seeking an alternative to synthetic fibers. CELLIANT is ideal for performance wear, luxury loungewear, casual wear and bedding. CELLIANT Viscose blends beautifully with cotton, micromodal, lyocell, wool varieties (including cashmere), and other fibers.
CELLIANT Viscose differentiates your brand with natural minerals embedded into plant-based fibers to create infrared products that promote local circulation and cell oxygenation while helping keep the body at the right temperature.
Kelheim’s winning formula is their flexible technology that allows targeted interventions in the viscose fiber process. By modifying the fiber’s dimensions or cross-sections or by incorporating additives into the fiber matrix, Kelheim can precisely define the fiber’s properties according to the specific needs of the end product. The production of CELLIANT Viscose takes place exclusively in Germany, complying with Germany’s strict environmental laws, guaranteeing an overall eco-friendly product.
The combination of Kelheim’s distinctive technology and the functional CELLIANT additives creates a unique fiber that provides full functionality without the need for any additional processing step — a new standard in the field of sustainable IR viscose fibers.
