About us
Jowat SE with headquarters in Detmold is one of the leading suppliers of industrial adhesives. These are mainly used in woodworking and furniture manufacture, in the paper and packaging industry, for graphic arts, in the textile, automotive as well as in the electrical industry. The company was founded in 1919 and has manufacturing sites in Germany in Detmold and Elsteraue, plus three other producing subsidiaries, Jowat Corporation in the USA, Jowat Swiss AG and Jowat Manufacturing in Malaysia. The supplier of all adhesive groups is manufacturing over 100,000 tonnes of adhesives per year, with around 1,250 employees. A global sales structure with 23 sales companies plus partner companies is guaranteeing local service with close customer contact.
Focused on sustainability: Green Adhesives
Be it the content of renewable raw materials, the conservation of resources, or the safety of processors and consumers: Whichever approach manufacturers take to reduce the environmental footprint of their bonding processes, Jowat has the products to support them. Jowat’s Green Adhesives are characterized by their sustainability and are tried and trusted in the field.
One major cornerstone of the Green Adhesives portfolio are the PUR hot melt adhesives with hazard-free labeling of the Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR range. The powerful adhesives without GHS pictograms are characterized by their excellent performance and save the time and money required for the otherwise mandatory training of processors, underscoring Jowat’s focus on developing sustainable solutions which are beneficial for the processor as well as for the companies.
Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR 630.99 is already successfully being used in the industry for the lamination of textiles and membranes. The PUR hot melt adhesive impresses with a broad spectrum of adhesion, high initial strength and low processing temperatures between 100°C and 130°C. It is compatible with the production technology established on the market, which uses engraved rollers or slot nozzles to apply the adhesive.
Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR 614.50, on the other hand, is the top choice for binding activated carbon and for laminating filter media. This recently launched adhesive provides excellent adhesion with small application amounts and can be processed at temperatures between 100°C and 120°C, making it a particularly resource-efficient and economical product.

The Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR (Monomer-Reduced) product group from Jowat supplies many PUR hot melt adhesives which are not subject to hazardous labelling requirements for a wide range of applications.
Jowatherm-Reaktant® MR 630.99 for general textile lamination is the newest addition to this product group. The PUR hot melt adhesive can be used for textile to textile lamination as well as for textile to membrane lamination on standard production lines with gravure roller or slot nozzle applicators. The requirements according to ECO-PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® are met.

Sustainable Textile Lamination with Jowatherm-Reaktant® GROW!
Jowatherm-Reaktant® GROW 631.20 is the first reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesive for textile lamination developed from renewable raw materials. With more than 20% bio-based renewable raw materials, it saves a considerable quantity of resources in its first development stage. A wide variety of material combinations achieve high resistance to washing and a soft-touch composite.
The concept of sustainability is influencing thoughts and actions in every area of life. More and more, consumers are opting for environmentally friendly products. This applies in particular to the textile industry, where the trend is increasingly to replace previously common materials with bio-based solutions. Adhesive plays a special role, as it must meet the highest demands for each application, which until now has only been possible with products based on fossil raw materials. This adhesive can be processed as usual, just like conventional products.
More than 20% of Jowatherm-Reaktant® GROW 631.20 is made up of bio-based materials, which will be documented and regularly verified by independent institutes. Due to the proportion of renewable raw materials, this adhesive is recommended for companies that want to gradually reduce the use of fossil-based materials, actively contributing to environmental protection.

The PUR hot melt adhesive Jowatherm-Reaktant® 630.80 is a true “all-rounder” which meets the requirements in a wide range of industries. Due to its broad spectrum of adhesion, the adhesive provides a solution for different textile laminations and can therefore be used in almost any application in the textile industry. The very good wash resistance of the adhesive is a major benefit and Jowatherm-Reaktant® 630.80 holds the bra cup in shape during the molding process.
In the automotive industry, the lamination of decor materials with foam requires a good initial strength. There, the laminating adhesive Jowatherm-Reaktant® 630.80 impresses due to its high green strength and UV resistance. Good adhesion between velour and paper is expected in the lamination of products for the abrasive materials industry. A PUR hot melt adhesive that must provide high temperature resistance for the abrasive process can be used in those applications.
Jowatherm-Reaktant® 630.80 is a PUR hot melt adhesive for textile laminations in the clothing and the automotive industry. For bonding the following composites: foam/textile and textile/textile.
*A selected range of Jowat adhesives for applications in the textile industry have been tested and certified in accordance with the “Eco Passport” of the Hohenstein Institute of Research. The certification confirms that the adhesives can be used in textiles according to the Standard 100 by OEKO-Tex® and are safe for human ecology. The OEKO-Tex® Standard guarantees to the consumer that a textile does not contain harmful substances above a binding limit. OEKO-Tex® testing for harmful substances is based on the intended use of the textile and products are grouped into four categories. From articles for babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age, to home textiles like upholstered furniture covers – the more intensive the skin contact of a product and the more sensitive the skin, the stricter human-ecological requirements must be observed. Jowatherm-Reaktant® 630.80 meets the criteria for product class 1.
