PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES
Description
With the Sustainable Development Goals in mind, the CTT team of experts developed research projects focused on processes that have a low impact carbon footprint, reduce the water consumption, lower energy needs. Few projects are CTT-owned, some others are with industrial partners.
- Photopolymerization is particularly interesting as it requires light source with low energy consumption (LED) and is easy to manipulate. The water consumption is non-significant and sample handling highly easy.
- Supercritical CO2 dyeing and finishing is also a process to be managed by CTT in North America. With a production technology that is proven effective with polyester fibers, a lot of opportunities for other textile materials are considered for many application.
- With the needs of new fibers with low carbon footprint, wet spinning technology is also targeted by CTT as a new way to produce fibers, particularly with bio-sourced polymers.
- A nonwoven hybrid machine airlaid /needlepunch with its card and cross lapper is also planned to be received in 2024.
- Additionally, to these processes, CTT is equipped with lab-scale prototyping machines, with some of them designed to process carbon fibers:
- Yarn spinning: mini card-drawframe-ringspinning machine;
- Loom 50 cm wide
- Narrow fabric jacquard loom
- Knitting fully fashion
- Finishing line 50cm wide
- Needle punch nonwoven machine
- TFP / embroidery
- Extrusion line
