Description

NIPS-T (NIPS-Table) is an optical textile inspection system with AI-supported evaluation function. The key difference is that the garments are presented on a table instead of on a 360° conveyor belt. This makes NIPS-T ideal for production-related inspection processes. NIPS-T is specifically designed for quality control after manufacturing or after individual production steps.

Automated control system for quality control after production

NIPS-T automates the previously manual visual inspection. The standardized control process avoids subjective quality assessments and the associated human errors. With the help of high-resolution cameras, special lighting, and AI algorithms, garments and critical areas are analyzed and checked with a high degree of reliability according to defined quality criteria. Test results are digitally documented and integrated into existing IT/ERP processes via interfaces so that they can be used for rework, rejection, and process optimization.

What can NIPS-T detect?

NIPS-T is particularly effective at detecting seam-related quality deviations such as seam interruptions, open or unraveled seams, missing stitches, and uneven stitch patterns. It also identifies typical seam defects such as seam misalignment, wrinkles/ripples along the seam, damaged seam areas, and critical zones at transitions and stress points. Depending on the configuration, NIPS-T can also detect other defects such as stains, holes/tears, material or surface irregularities, and contamination.

What can it be used for?

NIPS-T is suitable for end-of-line inspections after production as well as for random or 100% inspections before packaging and shipping. It can also be used for inline quality assurance after critical work steps (e.g., sewing, attaching pockets/reinforcements, applications) in order to trigger rework at an early stage.

What does our technology do?
NIPS-T delivers consistent, standardized inspection quality—regardless of fatigue or experience of the inspection staff. Quality rules (tolerances, error classes, product groups) can be customized so that the system can be adapted to different items and standards. The garment is positioned on the NIPS table for inspection, and the camera system then captures the relevant areas in consistent image quality. The image data is transferred in real time to the evaluation software, which marks and classifies any anomalies. This results in traceable inspection decisions, including documentation (e.g., image storage/markings).

What Does Our Technology Accomplish?

Defis Inspection System consists of a hardware unit, the control software, an interface module and the inspection module. Due to our open data structure, inspection results can be processed either through our interface module or by a third party control software. Defis is developed for the open source Linux operating system and runs on common x64 systems.

The Hardware Unit

The hardware unit consists of a individually customized camera and light combination. We provide different technologies like area scan or line scan cameras and make use of multiple light spectrums to perfectly fit your needs. Our hardware is IP67 rated for operation in harsh industrial environments. The unit is controlled via Ethernet, so that the processing of the aquired image data by the inspection software module can take place locally or remotely in a data center or even in the cloud. A local computing unit is tailored by us to your application and is delivered in 19" server.

Interface Module

The Defis Interface Module provides the control of the system via fieldbus network or a web service. Multiple protocols are available. Nagios is supported as remote monitoring software.

Inspection Module

The Defis Inspection Module is the vision component of the system. It processes the camera images and makes the decision about the occurrence of defects. The Defis model is a learning system. Which defects to detect and respective detail settings can be refined by the customer over time. New defects can be added and thresholds for exisiting ones can be adjusted anytime.

Medical Stocking Inspection System

Medical Stocking Inspection System

DEFIS Medical Stockings is an automated inspection system for almost complete quality control of medical compression stockings after the knitting process. It combines special camera technology, coordinated lighting, and AI-supported evaluation. The integrated turning function enables double-sided inspection in a single process.

The system largely replaces the previous manual visual inspection: stockings are laid out on a conveyor belt, transported automatically, and inspected on both sides. Defective items are then sorted out mechanically. This makes 100% inspection time-efficient and cost-effective.

What does our technology do?

The system enables a throughput of up to 10 items per minute and detects up to 10 defect classes. It also checks for dimensional deviations (e.g., length and width). The inspection works for both beige and colored compression stockings and is independent of the stocking shape (with or without foot section).

Integrated optical quality control

The system takes pictures of each stocking and evaluates them automatically using AI-based software. The turning function ensures that both sides can be checked immediately. This results in consistent, documentable quality control without the subjective deviations of manual visual inspection.

What can DEFIS Medical Stockings detect?

It detects spots, lines, fibers/foreign fibers, holes and tears, knots, and fiber defects, among other things. The system also identifies deviations in dimensions (especially length and width). This allows both visual defects and fit-related deviations to be reliably sorted out.

What can it be used for?

The system is designed for quality control in the production of medical compression stockings, especially immediately after knitting. It is suitable for standardizing final inspections and reducing manual inspection efforts. The software and database can be adapted to specific requirements and expanded to include customized defect detection.

NIPS automates the process of necessary quality control of high-visibility clothing after washing, based on the electronic processing of images and machine learning.

What Does our Technology Accomplish?

Textile service providers require constant quality assurance after washing their textiles. Through DESION NIPS the recognition of deviations in color and reflection is automated and carried out in consistently high quality. Our camera system can recognize a multitude of textile defects on fabric and reflective stripes.

Integrated Optical Quality Control

Garments, after washing and finishing on individual hangers, pass by our lights with integrated cameras, where photos are taken of the front and back (2 - 4 camera setups). Our software analyzes these photos in real time and transmits the results to the control software, which then sends the garments to selected stations in the quality control process. The results of each inspection are stored in the system and build a valuable collection of data. This database enables the customer to perform further analysis and optimization not only of the system itself but also the internal processes.
