Our proven Sestonit® fabric with special treatment has long been the go-to material for high-temperature applications. Whether for chimney and furnace insulation, gas turbines, foundries, or the automotive industry, Sestonit® delivers reliable performance wherever extreme heat demands it.

The new generation, Sestonext, takes performance to the next level:

  • Short-term use up to 1,300 °C (4 hours)

  • Increased strength while maintaining a textile feel

  • Residual strength of about 20 % at 105 N/cm

Building on the trusted quality of Sestonit, Sestonext combines enhanced thermal performance with a proven textile character, enabling even more demanding applications at the highest temperatures.

Intumescent one layer structure for high performance fire protection

with conduction, convection and radiation in just one layer

With its innovative multi-layer design, our new advanced intumescent flexible glass fabric sandwich
structure sets new standards in safety and efficiency. Built from a smart combination of aluminum foils,
fiberglass fabric with wire reinforcement and intumescent bonding layers it delivers superior protection by
addressing all three mechanisms of heat transfer.
When exposed to heat, the special intumescent adhesive combining both textile layers expands into a
highly effective insulating layer filled with microscopic air pockets. Forming a stable network of foamed
carbon, this unique barrier dramatically slows the transfer of heat and prevents flames from breaking
through. Meanwhile, reflective aluminum layers on both sides act like a shield, bouncing back radiant heat
for extra protection.
Unlike conventional multi-layer systems, which are stitched together and prone to wear, our development
features a fully bonded structure. This eliminates weak points and avoids mechanical friction. At the same
time, installation and further processing are easier, as all performance layers come integrated in one
compact and elegant system.

Focus on battery safety

Lithium-ion batteries pose particular risks: A so-called thermal runaway can lead to intense heat, flames, smoke, and toxic gases within seconds. Rapid, safe containment is crucial, especially for electric vehicles, e-scooters, and e-bikes in underground garages, residential complexes, charging and parking stations, or stationary storage facilities. In workshops, test laboratories, or transport vehicles, our fabric helps to limit battery fires.

Fire containment covers (FCCs) made from similar glass fabrics have been used in air traffic control for years. These covers serve to isolate burning cargo on board aircraft for 6 hours, giving the flight crew valuable time to make a safe landing.
