KURALON™ PVA fiber
PVA fiber (polyvinyl alcohol fiber) is the first domestically produced synthetic fiber in Japan, industrialized by Kuraray in 1950—the first such achievement in the world.
FEATURES
・High tenacity with hydrophilicity: Combines mechanical properties with hydrophilic surface.
・Alkali resistance: Maintains mechanical strength even under alkaline conditions.
・Dimensional stability: Exhibits stable under both thermal and mechanical stress.
BENEFITS
・Good adhesion to hydrophilic materials: Improved bonding enhances reinforcing performance.
・Sustained performance in alkaline environments: Suitable for long-term use where alkali resistance is required.
・Moisture absorption and release: Contributes to comfort when applied in textile applications.
APPLICATIONS
Cementitious reinforcement / Rubber reinforcement / Binder and structural fiber in functional paper / Seeding rope for seaweed farming
Distinct variant of PVA fibers are available.
KURALON K-II™ Water-soluble PVA fiber: Wide range of water solubility that meets customer’s requirement.
VINARL™ Flame-retardant PVA fiber: Inherent flame retardant lasts longer its flame retardancy. High tenacity and moisture absorption gives comfort and cotton-like touch.
