PET Tirecord

Polyester yarn for seatbelts

Our polyester yarn for seat belts has superb quality such as strict appearance management, excellent abrasion resistance, and dyeability, and is produced diversely including low denier yarn and black spun dyed yarn. Airbag Yarn (PET, Nylon-66)

Our airbag yarn is “ultra-tensile” to protect the human body even in high explosives. It also has “high elongation” that withstands force and expansion from an explosion and outstanding “thermal resistance” that blocks high-temperature heat.

Ultra-tensile polyester and nylon 66 yarns are used for airbags as high tensile strength is required. The thickness and tensile strength of fabric can be adjusted depending on the size, shape, and use of airbags.

Recycled PET sewing thread

Hyosung Advanced Materials developed recycled PET sewing thread made with plastic bottle wastes and supplies the product to manufacturers of well-known sports brands.

Fine denier yarn

Hyosung Advanced Materials developed fine denier yarn that is thin but boasts high tenacity. Most companies are hesitant to produce sewing threads due to low production compared to investments. But we took on this challenge with the mindset that “there will be an opportunity along the path not taken by others.” Now we are headed toward being ranked first in the global market share by expanding our factories in China.

Floor mats

Floor mats are one of the auto parts that are installed on top of the floor frame structures of vehicles. These carpets allow a comfortable ride while driving, function as a cushion, reduce noise and vibration, and absorb shock.

Optional mats, placed on top of floor mats, prevent the floor mats from being soiled with dust and humidity which are used until the vehicle reaches the end of its useful life. These mats also lessen foot fatigue while driving and also improve the interior. Optional mats are mostly made with nylon BCF yarns.

Flat fabrics for airbags

Flat fabric for airbags consists of nylon 66 and polyester as raw materials and is a fabric manufactured with threads for airbags.

Since the body first comes in contact with airbag fabric if a collision occurs, it must be made with harmless and safe materials.

Airbag OPW (One piece woven)

OPW is a more evolved airbag cushion made with technology that allows the airbag to be inflated for a specific time to protect passengers in a vehicle rollover.

Rather than the conventional method of using silicone, GST uses major patented technology for OPW that inhibits gas permeation to the outer surface of the fabric by applying heat indirectly to the film. GST produces OPW that can more safely protect passengers by minimizing gas outflow and maximizing inflation time to protect passengers in a rollover. It is used in curtain airbags to protect passengers’ heads and shoulders.
