PolyPlant®
Description
PolyPlant® is new innovative fiber that looks, feels, and acts like polyester. A fiber that shares the well-known and widely appreciated qualities of polyester, while not sharing its negative impact on the environment.
PolyPlant® is a biobased fiber made from sugarcane. It is biodegradable* in landfill and ocean water, it can be composted, and it is fully recyclable. The results in a significant improvement in circularity compared to traditional oil based polyester.
• 100% bio-based
• Non-toxic and safe
• Recyclable and renewable
• 75% Reduced Carbon Footprint (compared with virgin PET)
• Moisture-wicking, UV resistance, and flame retardancy
• Soft and Comfortable
• Biodegradable
*Biodegradable PolyPlant® products are designed to fully compost in nature, leaving no microplastic residue. The advanced technology transforms plant materials into robust, durable resins and engineered biocomposites, which can be composted and repurposed. These innovative solutions are derived from plants, mainly carbohydrates. PolyPlant® is ASTM6866 tested for natural origins and ISO14855 certified for ultimate aerobic biodegradation.
ASTM6866 certification: tested and verified to have a substantial portion of its composition derived from natural origins. It provides assurance that the product’s ingredients are fully sourced from renewable resources rather than fossil fuels or synthetic chemicals. This certification is important for products that claim to be environmentally friendly or sustainable, as it demonstrates a commitment to reducing the reliance on non-renewable resources in their production.
ISO14855 certification: rigorously tested and verified for its ability to undergo ultimate aerobic biodegradation. This certification demonstrates that the product can be naturally broken down by microorganisms in the presence of oxygen, resulting in the production of carbon dioxide (CO2), water, and nutrients. Essentially, it confirms that the product has the capacity to biodegrade efficiently in aerobic environments, contributing to reduced environmental impact and waste management.
