What is the purpose of this new material?
Many studies have unfortunately shown that firefighters, due to their prolonged exposure to 
their prolonged exposure to fumes, have a high risk of cancer. The hoods play a key role in protecting particularly exposed areas: the neck and throat. In order to fill the gaps in traditional equipment, a range of range of NNF LAMs has been developed, finally offering better protection to our everyday heroes without compromising comfort.

What is the NNF LAM?
The result of a collaboration between Alpex and Dupont, NNF LAM are technical textiles composed of 3 layers: An outer layer offering high thermal performance, composed mainly of Nomex® fibers, a nano-fiber membrane, and an inner layer that promotes moisture transfer. Soft, flexible and light, this material manages to be both extremely efficient in terms of protection (fire resistant, not producing annoying noise, filtering more than 99% of fine particles, bacteria and viruses), and comfortable to wear (breathable, stretch, light...). 
Also, its durability is excellent: tested after 100 washes or after 9 months of intensive use in the field, the material has well preserved its and its comfort.

Who is already using filtering hoods made of NNF LAM?
 
Developed in 2019, NNF LAM has just arrived on the market. Many tests are underway in Europe or in the Pacific, while some well-known brigades in brigades in North America have already adopted them for a few months.
