Spectrophotometers are often used to measure colour in technical textiles. Whilst they usually provide excellent results on even coloured substrates, if you want to measure patterned, pile or textured fabrics they are almost useless. Even when you do get accurate colour data, this is presented as overly complex colour data that does not answer the most important colour for buyers and designers - how does it look?
