REVACRYL™ Design
Next Generation Polymer Binder for Wallcovering
The newly launched REVACRYL™ Design series is a formaldehyde-free, fast drying styrene acrylic dispersion range designed for high performance wallcoverings made from all kinds of fibres either woven or non-woven.
It provides excellent water resistance that leads to a robust wet tear strength. The polymer dispersion is inert towards discolouration, and when combined with glass fibre the finished product can meet the DIN 4102 B1 fire protection standard as well as OEKO-TEX standard.
We do offer a wide range of different polymers from very soft (Tg -15°C) to stiff (Tg +38°C).
By blending the different REVACRYL™ Design products all desired haptics are possible.
REVACRYL™ Design 1425 can be used for impregnation or coating applications of woven or non-woven textiles where a very soft hand is desired. It can also be used for binding fibres or powdery materials of all types. REVACRYL™ Design 1425 is a non-formaldehyde releasing self-crosslinking polymer and thus does not require the addition of external crosslinking agents to achieve its superior performance.
REVACRYL™ Design 1490 can be used for impregnation or coating applications of woven or non-woven textiles where a soft hand is desired. It can also be used for binding fibres or powdery materials of all types. REVACRYL™ Design 1490 is a non-formaldehyde releasing self-crosslinking polymer and thus does not require the addition of external crosslinking agents to achieve its superior performance.
REVACRYL™ Design 1610 can be used for impregnation or coating applications of woven or non-woven textiles where a medium stiff hand is desired. It can also be used for binding fibers or powdery materials of all types. REVACRYL™ Design 1610 is a non-formaldehyde releasing self-crosslinking polymer and thus does not require the addition of external crosslinking agents to achieve its superior performance.

REVACRYL™ Design 1555
Low Emission Polymer Binder for Technical papers
The raising concern for an improved Indoor air quality and lower Volatile organic compounds (VOC) as well as the increase of regulation on formaldehyde emission reduction on the workplace and on the exhausts have pushed to have formaldehyde free products with no ammonia emission in the industry.
Synthomer is proud to launch the new REVACRYL™ Design 1555, aqueous dispersion of a styrene acrylic acrylonitrile copolymer self-crosslinking with no ammonia release over drying and no formaldehyde emission in the curing oven. The binder can be used in size press, on coating and on impregnation lines for nonwovens and technical papers such as abrasives and wallcovers.
Applications:
- Soft binder for high fibre bonding without blocking
- Suitable as such or with external crosslinker and additives
Features:
- Formaldehyde-free
- Ammonia free
- Self-crosslinking
- Low water uptake
- Excellent Tensile strength dry and wet
- Low foaming
- APEO-free
Properties:
Solid Content: 50.0% (ISO 3251)
pH value: 7.5 (ISO 976)
Viscosity: < 1,000 mPa·s (ISO 1652)
Glass Transition Temperature: +11°C (DIN 53765)

LITEX™ QuickShield
Next Generation Polymer Binder for Glass fibre finishing
LITEX™ QuickShield is a binder range for glass fibre fabrics finishing, and has excellent adhesion to mineral substrates.
Due to its novel low ammonia, formaldehyde free crosslinking system, a quicker crosslinking is obtained already at lower temperatures compared to the standard.
After drying and curing at ambient temperatures, the polymer forms a tack-free (even in the low Tg range), tough film with excellent water and alkali resistance to match all relevant norms.
The low viscosity supports good penetration, allows to reduce or even erase the water from the recipes and thus leads to faster drying and potential energy savings.
By blending the different LITEX™ QuickShield products with a Tg range from -44°C up to +37°C all desired haptics are possible.
LITEX™ XA 1547 with a Tg of -44°C
LITEX™ QuickShield 1545 with a Tg of +8°C
LITEX™ QuickShield 1685 with a Tg of +37°C

LITEX™ SkyShield 4685
LITEX™ SkyShield 4685 is an aqueous dispersion of a carboxylated formaldehyde-free self-crosslinking butadiene styrene copolymer for PES-based roofing felts. It features an excellent heat resistance, an outstanding mechanical strength and eliminates the need of formaldehyde-releasing resins. It provides very good adhesion to bitumen.
LITEX™ SkyShield 4685 enables a high mechanical strength, lowest shrink in machine- and cross-direction at elevated temperatures and allows the addition of starch as a co-binder.
Properties:
Solid Content: 50.0% (ISO 3251)
pH Value: 6.5 (ISO 976)
Viscosity: < 500 mPa.s (ISO 1652)
Glass Transition Temperature: 37°C (DIN 53765)
Anionic dispersion

SEQUAPEL™ 409
Water-based emulsion that provides excellent water repellency to different textiles, nonwoven and technical papers.
PFAS have been used in the textile, leather and technical paper industries for the past decades to improve the properties such as water resistance. Regulatory bodies in Europe and in the US are taking actions against PFAS due to their harmful effects on human health and the environment. To meet the demand for alternative water repellent agents, we present SEQUAPEL™ 409, an anionic stearylated polymer dispersion, designed for the use as sizing agent with very good water repellency.
SEQUAPEL™ 409 sizing agent uniquely provides excellent water repellency and holdout properties. It is a water-based emulsion and acts as a sizing agent for paper and paperboard as well. Compatible with most coating ingredients, this product exhibits excellent temperature and mechanical stability.
Furthermore, SEQUAPEL™ 409 provides excellent results undiluted or diluted by spraying, full bath impregnation or surface coating and in combination with acrylic binders. The actual level of SEQUAPEL™ 409 sizing agent used depends on the degree of resistance and holdout needed and on the other components (if any) that may be used in conjunction.
Applications:
- Polymer for textile, nonwoven and technical paper
- Application method: spray, saturation, coating
Features:
- Provides excellent water repellency
- Water-based, highly dilutable emulsion
- Stable with all binder types, especially starches
- Excellent stability over wide temperature range
