Meltblown Plant Solutions
Filtration – leading competences
Unique and highly-sophisticated nonwovens for filtration, insulation and sorption applications can be simply and efficiently manufactured thanks to Oerlikon Nonwoven’s meltblown technology.
The polymers used to produce the filter media and membranes are as diverse as their applications. The spectrum ranges from classical polyolefins (PP, PE), PET, PLA, PBT and PA all the way through to special plastics such as PPS and TPU. All these and other raw materials can be reliably processed using the Oerlikon Nonwoven meltblown procedures.
Charging units for superior filter separation performance
To increase the filter performance of nonwovens without pressure loss and thus in an energy-efficient way, they can be charged electrostatically or hydrostatically. Oerlikon Nonwoven offers two methods for charging:
- Hydrocharging with hycuTEC
- Oerlikon Nonwoven wins FILTREX Innovation Award - At the FILTREX 2022 conference in Berlin, Oerlikon Nonwoven received the Innovation Award for its hycuTEC hydrocharging unit. Conference attendees were able to choose from four innovations previously nominated by EDANA and chose hycuTEC by a large majority. The FILTREX Innovation Award is presented every two years and is the only award that recognizes innovations from the filtration industry. hycuTEC hydro-charging can reduce the pressure loss in typical FFP2 filter media to less than a quarter. Filtration efficiencies of more than 99.99% are easily achieved in typical filter media of 35 g/m² at 35 Pa. The hycuTEC process excels as a future-proof technology due to its considerably lower water and energy consumption compared to other hydro-charging concepts. This unit allows an additional drying process to be dispensed with in many applications, which has a huge impact on energy consumption.
- Whereas classical hydro-charging processes charge the finished non-woven material, the hycuTEC concept is based on the all-round charging of each filament. Through controlled atomization, a charge is evenly transferred to the fibers from the water spray. And a special additive is used to permanently bond the charge to the surface of each fiber. The result: filter media with a uniformly stable charge over the entire cross-section and an effective fiber surface area about 10 times greater than that of surface-charged media.
- The hycuTEC is an industrially manufactured hydro-charging solution that can be seamlessly integrated into the production process. And the technology is also easily retrofitted to existing systems as a plug & produce component.
- Electrocharging with ecuTEC+
- the ecuTEC+ electro-charging unit electrostatically charges filter media in order to further increase filter efficiency. It distinguishes itself from other concepts currently available on the market as a result of its extreme flexibility. Users can choose from numerous possible variations and hence set the optimum charge intensity for their respective filter applications.

Air-, gas- and liquid filtration

Industrial Yarn (IDY)
Industrial yarns are considered to be the ultimate discipline in filament manufacturing. High tenacities, extreme dimensional stability, tremendous durability along with a large range of titers – although the demanding production process promises high-margins, it is however also simultaneously a huge challenge both for the yarn manufacturer and the systems constructor.
Sustainable solutions for IDY production
With a operation window of between 50 and 12,000 den per filament, Oerlikon Barmag industrial yarn systems cover an extremely-wide titer range. Depending on the application and the required yarn characteristics, our systems produce ‘strong’ yarns for all applications: from high-tenacity high-modulus yarn for safety belts, HMLS yarns for tire cords all the way through to low and ultra-low shrinkage yarns for tarpaulins.
No compromises in terms of quality
Yarn quality is the decisive criterion, particularly in industrial applications. After all, our lives frequently depend on it. Here, we are by your side – with our high-performance spinning system components: from the extruder and the spinning pump, the spin beam and the spin packs all the way through to the quenching system and the winder.
Your benefits :
- EvoQuench radial quenching unit guarantees excellent yarn evenness for HMLS
- HF godets ensure gentle yarn treatment
- ACW winder produces excellent quality arn packages
Savings in OPEX
Cost-efficient manufacturing
Competition within the yarn markets is becoming more intense. The consequence: constantly rising pressure on costs. The solution: optimized production processes, efficient systems, sustainable technologies. All these are provided by our IDY technology concepts.
Your benefits :
- Reduced heat loss with SP8x spinning head series
- Reduced production costs with double-in-one spin pack
- Reduced energy consumption with HF godets
High efficiency
On the winning side
Efficiency is the most important characteristic of Oerlikon Barmag’s industrial yarn spinning lines. Its core components convince with regards to economic maintenance, efficient operation and production speed.
Your benefits :
- HF godets score highly in terms of efficiency with their fast availability
- high reliability, low maintenance requirements, long lifetime and high utilization rate with our ACW winder
- The ACW winder sets speed record in HMLS spinning process
