The traditional relation of the needle and the fabric is most aptly manifested in the Indian hand embroidery. Each design is first drawn on paper and then translated on the fabric through perforations on the paper. The fabric is held firm on a platform to allow the artisan to carefully embody the zari thread and beads upon the fabric.

The different coloured beads infuse the fabric with a new breath of life. The consummation of the process involves sewing the fabric to create a cushion cover, a table cover, a runner or mounting the fabric on a frame to offer a photoframe, a Jewellery box or a lampshade.
