About us
Optical inspection and measurement solutions for automated quality assurance and production process monitoring - from Dr. Schenk GmbH in Graefelfing, near Munich, Germany, since 1985.
The solutions developped, produced and marketed by Dr. Schenk GmbH are a key success factor in the making and converting of many materials, e.g. textile materials, nonwovens, paper, plastics, metal, or glass, for a multitude of markets such as display glass, automotive, packaging, medical, renewable energy, and many more.
Throughout the world Dr. Schenk’s 300+ employees continue to set new standards for inspection. Over 18,000 m² of modern, cleanroom-capable production and testing facilities are available to research, development and production to apply cutting-edge optics and electronics to customer applications.
The company’s objective is complete customer satisfaction. This is achieved through innovative and practical solutions that can be implemented into new and existing production lines. Local sales and service facilities around the world ensure fast support, technical service, training and consulting at any phase of a project. From modular standard units to highly customized systems – Dr. Schenk’s solutions have your material in focus!
All of the developments made by Dr. Schenk are based on two complementary fundamental principles: quality control and process monitoring.
- Quality control: provides the data to facilitate decisions for optimal combination of efficiency and quality. In that way, manufacturing processes can be checked and adjusted towards the goal of an absolutely perfect product
- Process monitoring: improves efficiency and stability of corresponding procedures on the basis of measurement values, without putting the quality standard at risk.
The core performance features of Dr. Schenk systems are:
- Detecting surface defects and mapping localized imperfections of materials
- Measuring the mechanical and optical characteristics of materials
- Rapid and precise analyzing of measurement values
Dr. Schenk systems are ideally suited to 100% surface quality control and process monitoring of materials moving at high production speeds in modern, highly efficient manufacturing sites.

Dr. Schenk EasyMeasure
Without additional hardware, Dr. Schenk EasyMeasure continuously monitors your material across the entire width to achieve a low coefficient of variation in production with regard to important properties of textile fabrics. From material homogeneity, permeability to coating thickness: Dr. Schenk's EasyMeasure provides material-wide monitoring of these properties with more than 65,000 gray levels.

Dr. Schenk EasyInspect for textile inspection
Surface Inspection - Quality Control - Process Control
Dr. Schenk EasyInspect is a complete solution for the detection of defects in textile fabrics. It examines 100% of the surface for local defects.
Typical inspection tasks in textile production include:
- Contamination detection (oil stains, particles, foreign fibers)
- Wrinkle detection
- Streak detection (double picks, reed or hook marks)
- Hole by fiber breaks detection (for example torn meshes)
- Deviations from the base structure (warps, mesh geometry, lattice image etc.)
- Faulty coating detection (irregular, non-adhesive or missing)
- ... and many more
EasyInspect & EasyMeasure for textile inspection use Dr. Schenk’s unique MIDA Technology to inspect textile fabrics with multiple optical channels on a single scan line. One defect generates multiple images.
This multi-view inspection system is made inteligent by Dr. Schenk's AI solutions: MIDA X can determine precise defect contours and defect characteristics with minimal input, and Dr. Schenk AI software with neural network architecture for deep learning and self-optimizing algorithms does the rest, delivering optimized classification. The more information the system processes, the smarter it becomes. As a result operators can invest more time optimizing their product than tuning their system.
Our unique histogram evaluation helps you to clearly distinguish between conventional brightness changes and deviations caused by material defects.
