The World’s Fiber from Aksa
Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Ş., a company of Akkök Holding, one of the established industrial groups of Turkey, was founded in 1968 in Yalova to meet Turkey’s need for acrylic fiber and started manufacture with a capacity of 5000 tons per year in 1971.
Becoming the world’s greatest producer of acrylic fiber with the investments it has made and the innovations it has introduced over the years, Aksa is now a global giant with approximately 300 customers in over 50 countries across 5 continents. With more than 1200 employees, Aksa is the world’s largest and Turkey’s only acrylic fiber producer with premises of 502 thousand square meters and a capacity of 315,000 tons per year.
Acrylic Fiber
Acrylic fiber is a synthetic fiber that closely resembles wool in its character. According to the definition of the ISO (International Standards Organization) and BISFA (International Synthetic Fiber Standardization Office), fibers which contain a minimum of 85% acrylonitrile in their chemical structure are called "Acrylic Fibers".
Acrylic fiber is composed of acrylonitrile and a comonomer. The comonomer is added to improve dyeability and the textile processability of the acrylic fiber. Acrylic fiber is produced with two different systems: wet spinning and dry spinning. Acrylic fiber can be supplied as producer-dyed either by pigmentation of the dope or with jel dyeing systems. It can be used 100% alone, or in blends with other natural and synthetic fibers.
Properties of Acrylic Fiber
Easy to wash and good dimensional stability.
Resistance to damage by moths and chemical substances.
Excellent color-fastness and dyeability in brilliant colors.
Highly resistant to sunlight.
Lightweight, soft, and warm, with a wool-like touch
End Uses of Acrylic Fiber:
Apparel: Sweaters, socks, fleece wear, circular knit apparel, sportswear and childrens wear
Household Textiles: Carpet, blankets, area rugs, upholstery, pile fabrics
Outdoor end uses: Car tops, boat covers, awnings, outdoor furniture
Industrial end uses: Filtration materials, reinforcement materials in construction, car batteries

Acryterna
Acryterna AT200 homopolymer acrylic fiber is a high strength fiber developed for technical applications in hot gas filtration media of power generation, cement and limestone industries. Due to its chemical composition it has excellent mechanical and chemical resistance at very high temperatures with an extended lifetime.
Acryterna AT203 homopolymer acrylic fiber is a high strength fiber with trilobal cross section. The innovative cross section of the fiber improves the effectiveness of the filtration due to its increased surface area.
High Performance • High tensile strength ensures durability and extends the life of the material. • The compact molecular structure is a fundamental factor that differentiates Acryterna AT200. • Low residual shrinkage characteristics ensure longer service life due to technology developed by Aksa. • The light weight product ensures cost advantage. • Trilobal shaped cross sections provide greater surface area for filtration applications. Chemical Stability The AT200 series is highly resistant to degradation by acids, alkalis and hydrolysis. It retains 90% of its strength after soaking in 30% H2SO4 solution at 75°C for 15 hours. Thermal Stability Due to its high molecular weight and compact molecular structure AT200 series fibers have great durability at elevated temperatures. After being kept at 140°C, for 800 hours the fiber still preserves 70% of its initial strength. All Acryterna AT200 series fibers are processed with a special technology of Aksa in order to remove residual shrinkage of the fibers. Processability As a result of the recent technological improvements, AT200 series fibers are ready-togo for any textile processing equipment. Moreover, Acryterna AT200 fiber is compatible with other synthetic fibers while blending. Stress - Strain Properties
