Our brading area regroup more than 200 head of braiding machine. Our braiding machine 3 carriers, 8 carriers, 12 carriers, 16 carriers are cutting-edge technology. We also have 2 automatic assembling machine, 5 winding machine which allows high quality and precisions in the winding.

Our modern machines allow us today to dedicated half of our production at the achievement of tailor made products.

We use natural raw materials such as the cotton, linen, but also synthetic material like polypropylene, polyamide, polyester, and high performance yarns such as kermel©, tin, copper, UHMWPE, aramids.

Our know-how of braiding allow us to realize like for example candles wicks, sandow, Bungee cord, elastic rope, wire pulling rope and rope for the cultivation of algae.

Filt1860, specialist of candles wicks

At Filt1860, we search constantly to develop our know how and promote French industry in the whole world. That’s why in 2006, Filt1860 decided to revive the Norman manufacture’s production of candles wicks. Our vision ? To perpetuate traditional Norman know-how.

Used materials and type of candles wicks:

We braid cotton wicks with a paper core or linen core. We use treatment which make cotton more hydrophilic, in order to optimize the burning of the candle. Our treatments are realize in Europe with Oeko tex standard 100 certificate which ensures that there is no use of heavy metals or azo dyes.

We developed wicks range ECOCERT certified organic cotton. We propose standard range with different models for our candles wicks braided flat,square, torch wicks and garden wicks, votive candles . But also a possibility of quality tailor-made production to support our customers in their new development. We also adapt our wick diameters which can range from 1mm to 60mm (depending on the model). Custom packaging is also possible.

We manufacture nets for water treatment only on specifications. We already have a few references in this field, with major players in France and Europe, for the preservation of lifts pumps, the packaging nets of filtration media, or even to make coil containing fibers absorbing hydrocarbons . Minimum size of the diamond mesh: 5mm per side.

Thanks to our knowledge and technological capabilities, we can, in the same net, knit different materials to get the most of their resistance characteristics, for example. We can also knit different sizes or types of mesh (diamonds or hexagonal) continuously, in the same net for a funnel or a larger mesh to insert a support strap for example.

Since the 1960s, Filt1860 develop it’s know how in the field of aquaculture,in France, more specifically in the field of mussel farming. We provide mussel growers with nets that meet their needs and also meet environmental criteria.

• Catinage net, in high tenacity polyester, UV treated.
• Boudinage nets, Mytidouble: mixed synthetic and cotton, several possible densities.
• Net for seed rope, in polyester, polypropylene or cotton.

The nets are packaged in reels sold by the meter. On request, we prepare ready-to-use nets: cut to measure, tied, and/or elasticated.

Our know-how allows us to work on a specific material or on two different materials.

The cotton maintains the mussel seed during the laying of the net by releasing the space necessary for the mussels. The polypropylene guarantees the hold of the mussels during winding on the stake and handling.

We manufacture boudinage nets, for the cultivation of mussels on stakes and on ropes, with meshes of 14 to 40mm per side.

Catinage nets keep the mussels on the stake as they grow. They protect the mussels from the swell, the flow but also from marine predators.

We can work these nets in synthetic material such as polypropylene or polyester.
