Single Glass Yarns
FFG glass yarns are manufactured from E-glass which, owing to its composition, imparts specific features to them (good electrical insulation properties above all). Yarn is produced by twisting of a strand having several hundred particular filaments in diameter from 5 to 13 microns. Standard twist direction is Z, but any yarn can be supplied with S twist direction as well. Fine yarns are twisted with 40 or 36 twists/m, coarser ones with 28 t/m. All currently used sizes are starch/oil based, i.e. primarily suitable for PCB production but not limiting using of the yarns to this application field only.  Some new sizes for specific applications (PTFE ...) are under development process at the moment. All yarns can be supplied in electronic quality (A grade – defined maximum number of free filaments visible on bobbin surface), some of them in industrial quality as well (I grade).
