Über uns
MEHLER ENGINEERED PRODUCTS is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of technical textiles with a global presence of seven locations and more than 650 employees.
MEHLER is a medium-sized industrial company headquartered in Fulda / Germany and belongs to the listed industrial holding company KAP AG.
MEHLER’s engineered yarns and engineered fabrics serve a variety of markets such as industrial, mobile, constructive, agricultural or protective sectors.
Among others, they are used as reinforcement materials for Mechanical Rubber Goods (MRG) like power transmission belts, hoses, conveyor belts or brake membranes. Furthermore, engineered fabrics from MEHLER serve as base material for coated products.
Technical textiles, which are often not visible in the customer’s end product, are essential to ensure the requested functionality of the final product.

Engineered Yarns
Our broad portfolio of engineered yarns is used in a wide range of applications. Most of our technical yarns are customized to meet the requirements of certain downstream processes and end uses. Textile yarns are often used as reinforcement materials in mechanical rubber goods (MRG) like power transmission belts, hoses or air springs. In textile reinforced rubber products, the textile yarn provides properties such as tensile strength and rigidity.

MSA - MEHLER SUSTAIN ADHESIVE
RF-free treatment solution
Our experts developed a sustainable, RF-free and CO2-neutral treatment for Mechanical Rubber Goods (MRG) reinforced by technical textiles.
The innovative treatment solution MehlerSustainAdhesive – MSA – consists of natural components and contributes to a responsible treatment of the environment, people and our future.
MSA enables outstanding adhesion to various rubber compounds.

Engineered Fabrics - Specialty Fabrics
Specialty Fabrics are woven fabrics with high technical functionality in terms of tensile strength, elongation, weight, thickness and different finishing options. The variety of specialty fabrics is enormous. The technical scope can differ from very light and flexible textiles to heavy and ultra-high tensile strenghts – always depanding on the type of application and its specific requirements.
The fabric treatments include dry finishes such as:
- heat-setting
- tumbling
- calendaring
- doubling
Fabric treatments with wet finishes enable to achieve the following properties:
- rubber-adhesive
- oil / water-repellent
- bitumen-friendly
- flame / heat-resistant
- antistatic
- UV-resistant
- coloring
Fabric coating includes coating with:
- PVC dispersion and paste (polyvinyl chloride)
- NBR (nitrile-butadiene rubber)
- CR (chloroprene rubber)
- SBR latex (styrene-butadiene rubber)
- PVA (polyvinyl alcohol)
- PVAC (polyvinyl acetate)
- PU (polyurethane)
- Silicone and acrylate blends
We produce untreated fabrics with a width of up to 5,40 cm (212″), dip-coated fabrics up to 5,20 m (204″) and treated fabrics up to 2,95 m (116″).
Specialty Fabrics are used in versatile markets and applications like:
- filters
- hoses
- handrails
- ballistic protection vests
- flat roofs
- awnings
- swimming pools
- scrims
- meshes
- geotextiles
In the mobility sector, specialty fabrics are used in the following applications:
- timing belts
- brake diaphragms
- air bag covers
- battery covers for electric cars
- air filters or composites reinfoced with fabrics like for car interior as dashboards, car bodies or seat frames

Engineered Fabrics
MEHLER’s engineered fabrics cover the whole spectrum of woven technical fabrics.
Our fabric solutions are based on industry-proven yarns, engineered fabric constructions, tailor-made fabric finishing, treatments and coatings as well as individual fabric dimensions.
The product portfolio of MEHLER’s technical fabrics is extremely diverse and is used in a wide variety of applications. Most of the fabrics are tailor-made to meet the needs of specific downstream processes and end-uses. Engineered fabrics are often used to reinforce Mechanical Rubber Goods (MRG). Only the use of the fabric enables a long durability of the end product. In a textile / rubber composite structure, the textile fabric provides properties such as tensile strength and rigidity. In order to achieve the required degree of adhesion between the textile and rubber, we treat our fabrics with RFL (resorcinol formaldehyde latex), or alternatively, with our RF-free solution Mehler Sustain Adhesive (MSA).
Other end applications, in turn, require other types of finishings.
MEHLER’s customers expect highest product quality and on-time manufacturing of our woven engineered fabrics. To meet these requirements, multi-stage processes such as the following need to be managed:
- texturizing
- twisting
- warping
- weaving
- treating or coating
- tumbling
- cutting
- lab testing
We are optimally positioned for such tasks, as we control and manage the entire value chain internally.

BasaTexx FP - Fireproof Membranes
BasaTexx FP is an innovative, high-performance technical fabric made of Basalt and treated with a fire-resistant coating.
Through the interaction of the mineral fiber material with a special elastomer coating, a non-combustible, flexible, and lightweight tarpaulin or composite material was created.
The new developed fabric can be used for multifunctional applications and system solutions. Wherever high fire protection requirements are necessary and the general fire load has to be reduced, BasaTexx FP is the perfect lightweight material solution. The fabric meets the requirements of building material class A2-s1,d0 according to DIN 4102-1 and EN 13501-1 (equals to ISO 1182).
BasaTexx FP is characterized by a high flame retardancy and temperature resistance (up to 1.200 °C / 2,200 °F); high tensile and compressive strengths; UV-, chemical and corrosion resistance and no melting and dripping behaviour when exposed to fire.
