For now, over 25 years, the Graute GmbH has been developing, designing and building reliable machines for the nonwovens industry. The full range of machines for the manufacturing of nonwovens is offered, from Bale Opening and machines for Mixing and Fine Opening, through to complete Airlay systems and Carding systems with Cross Lapper and Web Drafters.

In the meantime, the name Graute also stands for quality in sophisticated technology in the field of winding technology. Already at the end of 2019, the foundation stone of the additional business branch was laid in Luxembourg and has since then been dedicated to the design of various winding machines for web-formed materials. In addition to the classic Turret Discs, Masterroll and Shortroll Winders, Offline Systems specially tailored to the individual needs of customers, as well as fully automatic High-Speed Slitting Units and Core Cutters are also offered.

At the beginning of this year, the Graute family happily continued to grow. Since 1 January 2024, the newly founded Graute DOA GmbH in Wels, Austria, has continued the more than 70-year history of DOA. With the takeover of DOA, Graute is now the contact for complete Air-Lay-Lines up to 15,000 g/m², with a particular focus on products made from recycled fibres and natural fibres such as hemp and flax.

All machines of Graute are designed according to a special construction concept, the aim of which is to make the machines as user-friendly as possible as well as easy to maintain in order to minimize downtimes and ensure smooth production. In this regard, large transparent windows, which serve for optimal visual control, should be mentioned. In order to ensure a considerably improved situation with regard to cleaning and maintenance of the carding machines, individual sections can be separated or the card can be moved apart completely in just a few steps.

The Graute GmbH has brought in recent years, several innovations on the market. One of these innovations is the new Slide Drum Winder, which combines the advantages of a sliding and a carrying roller winder and thus guarantees very good winding results and scrap-free production even at high speeds, large working widths and high roll weights. In this way, we are not only making a major contribution to conserving resources, but also proving once again that further development is our credo. We are engaged in the development of new methods and machines, but we do not stop at the further development of our existing machines either.

Another topic that has become increasingly important in recent years is the recycling of edge stripes and deposit rolls. Here, Graute has developed an opening machine that can reopen very heavily consolidated materials that previously had to be disposed of for a fee and return this material to the process. This results in a considerable savings potential since no disposal costs are incurred and fewer new fibers have to be used to produce the product. As a result, the payback period of the Carding Opener is usually well below one year.

However, the Graute GmbH is not only to be seen as a supplier of high-quality new machines and as a partner in the modernization of existing lines in the nonwovens industry, but also sees itself as an experienced solution provider for complete turnkey lines. A milestone here was certainly the complete delivery of a globally unique CAC (Carded- Airlaid- Carded) production line for wet wipes made from 100% biodegradable materials in the year 2021.
